HOUSE HIGHTOPS by Faye Toogood

Writer: Gem Barton

Faye Toogood has created a workshop installation for Be Open Space with Tom Dixon that “celebrates the ‘post-industrial’ era – the resurgence of individuals and small collectives applying their own skills within the city to produce, make, manufacture and sell direct. In a bid to industrialise craftsmanship, the installation shows transparency of production from manufacturing to shop floor. The workers of Faye Toogood invite visitors to experience the making and process behind HOUSE HIGHTOPS in their factory shop.”

Not only are they fashioned from felt blankets, (lovingly) hand-made right in front of your eyes and as soft as a baby’s face, they look damn cool too! Where else could you snap up such a British design classic for £20.00 Exclusive to London Design Festival 2012.
