BMW have revealed their new brand, BMW i, for all things electric. Building upon over 40 years of sustainable mobility, this separate division for the company comes as Paris is persuading people to forgo personal cars, in favour of shared electric cars.
New materials, new design and new technology make an impressive spec and sleek car (just take a look at the promotional video). Rather than starting with an existing model and swapping gas for electric the BMW i3 and BMW i8 will be the auto manufacturers first production vehicles designed from the ground up.
Adrian Van Hooydonk, design director for BMW, also revealed the brand direction. The familiar BMW logo will be encased in a blue ring, symbolising the new electric technology and the new 3D ‘i’.
You’ll have to wait to drive one though, it’s expected the i3 and i8 models will appear on our roads in 2013.
