Futurespace Magazine’s LFW blogger Adela Cechova gives her AW trend highlights after her first day at the show.
Only the first day of LFW AW 12 is behind us, and we’ve already been exposed to many new and exciting trends. Prints are certainly one of them: Zoe Jordan had a lovely abstract design and Corrie Nielsen took inspiration from her Scottish heritage, bringing us a lot of plaid.
The colour palette for AW 12 is vast, ranging from whites and off-white, through to soft pink, lilac, taupe, chestnut to darker oxblood, strong fuchsia, and all the way to black. There is definitely something for everyone. Materials include tulle, leather and feather.
Make-up ranged from flushed cheeks and bold red lips at Corrie Nielsen, to soft and neutral at Felder Felder, who took me by surprise, because their collections are usually very black and rock’n'roll. But today they showed a much lighter side, bursting with abstract prints, red and orange dresses, lots of beading and sequins, which was overall very feminine and sophisticated.
Metallics (Felder Felder) and knitwear are taking the focus for Autumn/Winter. Headwear looks set to be big too.
PPQ’s collection was mostly monochrome, with a bit of green thrown into the mix and included very feminine silhouettes, nipped-in waists and evening wear.
All in all it was a day of usual British fashion that wasn’t afraid to push the boundaries. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store.
