The saying goes, “home is where the heart is” and this is very true. I believe in surrounding myself with the people I love and filling my home with beautiful things that make me happy. Juliana Cavaliero and Debra Finn of Cavaliero Finn believe that when buying art and design for your home or place of work, it makes sense to view it in a similar environment. I would tend to agree with this; you might love a particular piece when you view it on its own, but it is sometimes difficult to picture it amongst other items in your home.
Everybody has a particular style and taste that they tend to go for, but tastes do change; what you like today may not be what you will like tomorrow. I think that the “gallery at home” style of shopping is a great way to help individuals see designs in new ways and also help to picture them in their own space. Art requires a certain appreciation or “eye” and I find that although two pieces can theoretically be designed in the same style they could actually look completely different. It can be hard to picture a work of art or certain design in a home-like space without actually seeing it in a similar situation. This is why Cavaliero Finn offers a service where you can not only view beautiful designs, but you can view them in a home-like environment.
Debra and Juliana have a clear passion for what they do and a great eye for design, building up a strong reputation with their clients through their ability to recognise emerging artists and designers. I find it very appealing to see a company so passionate and invested in the smaller sections within the design world, as there are so many wonderful designers out there that would struggle to get their work seen without companies such as this. Cavaliero Finn take the time to source new artists and designers so that they can continuously have a flurry of innovative work and fresh ideas flowing through their exhibitions.
Juliana and Debra regularly set up exhibitions in a terraced Victorian family home, combining the work of new artists as well as established designers to offer an intimate consultant style service. The key for their success seems to have been in finding the right balance between established designers and up and coming artists as well as a price range to suit a wide audience. Mentioning in a recent interview that “clients come to us time and time again, knowing they will have the chance to shop in a space where they can enjoy being… having the opportunity to find something affordable that they will treasure for a long time.” It’s not only a great way to view art and design, it’s a fun experience and also a chance to have a look round someone else’s house, lets face it, we can be rather nosey…
Cavaliero Finn source a wide range of art and design including ceramics, paintings, wall art, photography and sculptures amongst other exciting finds so there is something to suit all tastes and home designs. One of our writers had the chance to see their Christmas exhibition and also talk with Debra – read the interview here.
